In May 2019, STIA Professor Mark Giordano and Asian Studies Professor Irfan Nooruddin accompanied SFS students to India as part of the year-long India Innovation Studio. As an SFS Centennial Lab, students work in partnership with Indian government and civil society stakeholders to examine a specific problem facing India and design implementable solutions. Past topics have included drought mitigation in Maharashtra, utilization of sanitation infrastructure in Mumbai, and triggers to state level irrigation policy reform. This year the class is working with partners in Maharashtra on the siting of transportation infrastructure.
